What do the share options mean?

Expiry, downloads, and passphrase — what each setting does.

Updated 9 Sept 2026

When you create a share link, you can set a few options.

Expiry

Set a date after which the link stops working. Good for time-boxed reviews. Your workspace can set a default expiry so every new share starts with one — see workspace security defaults.

Allow downloads

Off by default. Turn it on to let reviewers download the original file, not just stream it.

YouTube and Vimeo links can’t be downloaded — for a single link the option is locked off; in a folder or multi-asset share, only the uploaded files can be downloaded. See Can I download or compare a YouTube or Vimeo link?.

Passphrase

Require a word or phrase before anyone can view — see Passphrase-protect a share.

You can change these later from the share’s settings — see Manage or stop your shares.
